October 11, 2018 - Bell Canada is pleased to announce the launch of Wholesale Cloud Connect.

Businesses today are increasingly relying on the cloud. As this reliance grows, so does the need for private, secure and reliable access.

Cloud Connect delivers an optimal cloud experience over Canada’s largest fibre network. It’s a fully managed, end-to-end network solution that keeps data more private — as opposed to using a public Internet connection — while giving secure access to cloud services from our industry-leading cloud partners.

The Cloud Connect service offers:

  • Access to a powerful cloud services infrastructure with Canada’s largest IP network — keeping your data in Canada for end-to-end performance, security and reliability.
  • Partnerships with leading cloud application providers give you the benefit of solutions like Amazon Web Services, IBM Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Google Site Connect*.
  • An easy and direct solution so you and your customers can connect wherever you do business.

September 30, 2016 – Bell continues to expand its Wavelength service with the recent launch of a new management option that provides Wavelength services with one managed end and one end unmanaged.

There are a number of scenarios in which a managed service may be preferable, at one or both ends of the circuit, including:

  • Interconnecting storage applications between remote data centres
  • Networking mainframes between long-distance locations and data centres
  • Establishing low-latency routes for financial trading exchanges
  • Transporting uncompressed video in real time
  • Adding capacity to transport native fibre channel traffic in a SAN

The benefits of choosing a managed service at one or both end of the circuit include access to the network expertise of an experienced third party, minimized downtime due to guaranteed service levels, and capital and operational savings through the reduced need for facility and network management.

New Ethernet diversity option available

September 23, 2015 – Bell continues to expand its Ethernet Internetworking service to deliver Canada’s most advanced fibre optic network, coast-to-coast-to-coast.

Bell has recently launched a new diversity feature that increases customer availability, providing improved Ethernet service resiliency in the event fibre access goes down.

Link Aggregation Group (LAG) technology

The Ethernet access protection feature is based on link aggregation group (LAG) technology and uses an active standby link to automatically re-route traffic to a secondary link when the primary link goes down. The LAG feature is available for the 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps Ethernet aggregation points service. This newly introduced diversity feature, complements Bell’s existing diversity features such as Access diversity, Switching Centre diversity and Entrance diversity and enables Bell to offer the most robust availability protection required by customers.

Bell’s Ethernet service offers a fully redundant core utilizing state-of-the-art technology. This ensures a secure core topology and decreases single points of failure. The Bell Ethernet service is also compliant with industry standards. Our parent company, Bell Canada, is the first Canadian provider to receive two certifications from the Metro Ethernet Forum, the defining body for Carrier Ethernet.
